Terms of Service

PRIVA — Private Vault · Effective November 5, 2026
Key Summary: PRIVA is an on-device encrypted vault application. We operate zero cloud servers storing user files. You maintain full ownership and sole responsibility for your 6-digit passcode and 12-word recovery phrase. PRIVA Pro is a one-time non-consumable lifetime purchase handled via the Apple App Store.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the PRIVA application (including the Share Extension), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (Apple Standard EULA). If you do not agree to these terms, do not install or use the application.

2. Service Architecture: On-Device & Zero Knowledge

PRIVA provides secure local storage and authenticated AES-GCM encryption for personal photos, videos, and documents on iOS and iPadOS:

  • No Remote Database: Vault contents, file names, dates, and thumbnails are encrypted and stored solely on your device. The developer operates no server storing user vault contents.
  • No User Account: PRIVA requires no account registration, email address, or third-party sign-in to create or access a vault.
  • Secure Enclave & Biometrics: Biometric authentication (Face ID and Touch ID) is processed locally using Apple's Secure Enclave. The app never accesses or stores your raw biometric data.

3. Passcode & 12-Word BIP39 Recovery Phrase

Because PRIVA is end-to-end encrypted on-device with zero-knowledge keys, the developer cannot reset your passcode or recover lost files for you. You are solely responsible for:

  • Remembering and protecting your 6-digit vault passcode.
  • Storing your 12-word recovery phrase in a secure, offline physical or digital location.
  • Performing regular encrypted backups before updating hardware or reinstalling iOS.

4. Free Tier & PRIVA Pro In-App Purchase

  • PRIVA Free: Enables local encrypted storage for up to 50 items (including trash and hidden partition). Encryption algorithms, Face ID, backup, recovery, and export remain fully accessible.
  • PRIVA Pro: A one-time non-consumable in-app purchase that removes the file count limit (subject only to available device memory) and unlocks all alternate camouflage icons.
  • No Subscription: PRIVA Pro does not require recurring monthly or annual payments. It is a perpetual license.
  • Restoring Purchases: You may restore your Pro purchase on any compatible iOS device associated with your Apple ID using the "Restore Purchases" button.
  • Refunds: Payments and refunds are administered directly by Apple under standard App Store policies (reportaproblem.apple.com). Files already imported into your vault remain accessible and exportable.

5. Backups & Third-Party Cloud Services

PRIVA allows you to write encrypted backup files to a folder you select in the iOS Files app (such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or a local NAS). The storage and network transfer of backup files are governed by the policies of your chosen third-party provider. A local folder write notification confirms only that the file was written to the directory; it does not confirm remote cloud synchronization.

6. Intellectual Property

All software code, application icons, visual assets, trademarks, and documentation related to PRIVA are the intellectual property of the developer. Users receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable revocable license to use the app in compliance with these terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

PRIVA is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer disclaims all warranties, express or implied. The developer shall not be liable for any data loss, hardware failure, or damages arising out of lost passcodes, damaged recovery phrases, or third-party cloud service disruptions.
